ALMOND EYES
How do you know if you have almond-shaped eyes?
Almond eyes are named for their softly elongated shape. The inner and outer corners tend to taper slightly, with the iris sitting neatly between the upper and lower lids rather than showing a large amount of white above or below it. There is usually a visible crease, although the amount of lid space can vary considerably from person to person.
Almond is often described as one of the most versatile eye shapes for makeup and lashes, but that doesn’t mean there is one particular lash style you should wear. What makes almond eyes interesting is how easily their proportions can be emphasised in different ways. You can follow their natural elongation, create more lift towards the outer corner, or concentrate length through the centre for a slightly more open appearance.

What lashes suit almond eyes?
If you want to emphasise the natural shape of an almond eye, we generally favour a softly graduated lash map, beginning with shorter lengths towards the inner eye and gradually increasing the length as you move outwards. This follows the natural taper of the eye without overpowering it.
For very subtle definition, our NATURAL Lash works beautifully because the 9mm, 11mm, 12mm and 14mm pre-glued lash clusters allow you to create your own graduated map while keeping the fibres exceptionally fine.
If you prefer more emphasis at the outer corner, the Luxury Mini Wing is an easy way to add lift and elongation without covering the entire lash line. Choose Black for slightly stronger definition or Brown if you want the effect to remain particularly soft.
For a fuller, more complete lash look, The Wing Xtend continues that outer-corner lift across the eye with two additional clusters, while ELEVATE is a lovely choice if you want something softer and wispier with more freedom to customise the volume.
Lash mapping tip for almond eyes
Don’t feel you automatically have to put your longest lash at the very outer corner. On some almond eyes, bringing the longest cluster slightly inward and then stepping down at the very edge can create a beautifully lifted finish rather than pulling the eye horizontally.
And remember that two almond eyes aren’t necessarily identical. If one eye naturally sits slightly differently from the other, you can adjust the placement or lengths on each side. Lash mapping is there to work with your eyes, not force them into perfect symmetry.
Best Bonded styles for almond eyes: The NATURAL Lash for subtle everyday definition; Luxury Mini Wing for outer-corner lift; Wing Xtend for soft elongation; ELEVATE for a wispier, more polished finish.
UPTURNED EYES
How do you know if you have upturned eyes?
Upturned eyes have a natural lift at the outer corners, with the outer edge of the eye sitting slightly higher than the inner corner. The shape can be almond, round or somewhere in between - “upturned” refers specifically to the direction of the eye rather than its overall size or proportions.
One simple way to identify an upturned eye is to imagine a straight horizontal line running through the inner and outer corners. If the outer corner naturally sits above that line, your eyes are likely upturned.
This built-in lift is particularly lovely to work with when it comes to lashes. You can follow the natural upward direction for an elongated, softly feline effect, or balance the shape by distributing length more evenly across the lash line.

What lashes suit upturned eyes?
For an upturned eye, we generally like to work with the natural lift rather than exaggerating it too heavily. A graduated lash map with shorter fibres towards the inner corner and a gentle increase in length through the middle and outer sections can beautifully emphasise the eye’s existing shape.
Our Natural Lash is particularly versatile here. The different pre-glued cluster lengths allow you to follow the eye’s natural proportions while keeping the finished effect fine, soft and understated.
If you love the naturally lifted shape of your eyes and want to emphasise it, the Luxury Mini Wing places definition precisely where an upturned eye already has its natural lift: the outer third. Choose Black for more definition or Brown for a softer, barely-there finish.
For a more complete lash look, Wing Xtend continues that definition inwards using two additional clusters, giving you more freedom to balance the outer wing with the rest of the eye.
Lash mapping tip for upturned eyes
The longest lash doesn’t necessarily need to sit at the very outer corner. Because an upturned eye already rises naturally, adding excessive length right at the edge can sometimes exaggerate the angle more than intended.
Instead, try placing your longest length slightly before the outer corner, then stepping down very subtly for the final cluster. This maintains that beautiful natural lift while keeping the overall shape soft and balanced.
If you want a rounder, more open effect rather than further elongation, concentrate a little more length through the centre of the eye instead.
Best Bonded styles for upturned eyes: Natural Lash for customisable everyday definition; Luxury Mini Wing for emphasising the natural outer lift; Wing Xtend for a more complete, softly elongated finish.
DOWNTURNED EYES
How do you know if you have downturned eyes?
Downturned eyes have a gentle downward angle at the outer corners, with the outer edge of the eye sitting slightly lower than the inner corner. Like upturned eyes, this describes the direction of the eye rather than its overall shape - so you can have almond-shaped, round or deep-set eyes that are also downturned.
To identify them, imagine a straight horizontal line running through the inner and outer corners of your eye. If your outer corner falls slightly below that line, your eyes are likely downturned.
There is a beautiful softness to downturned eyes, and lash placement can make a surprisingly noticeable difference to how their natural shape is framed. You can follow that gentle angle for a softer effect, or use your lash map to create more visible lift through the outer portion of the eye.

What lashes suit downturned eyes?
For downturned eyes, lash placement can create a beautiful lifting effect. The key is to draw the eye outward and slightly upward, without placing too much weight at the very outermost corner.
The WING Xtend - Black would be one of our first choices for downturned eyes. The outer wing creates definition and lift, while the two smaller inner clusters continue the lash line across the eye so the finished result feels balanced rather than concentrating all of the weight at the outer corner. Choose Black when you want a little more contrast and a polished, defined finish.
For an altogether softer effect, WING Xtend - Brown gives you the same three-piece flexibility with fine brunette fibres. It’s particularly good if you’re trying to lift a downturned eye without creating a very obvious false-lash look; the softer colour adds definition while keeping the overall effect understated.
If you only want to concentrate on the outer corner, the Luxury Mini Wing — Brown is a lovely option. Its brunette fibres and one-piece design give the outer third subtle definition without overwhelming the eye. Placement is important: position the wing to encourage the lash line upwards rather than simply following the natural downward direction of the very last lashes.
For the same targeted lift with slightly stronger definition, choose the Luxury Mini Wing — Black. The black fibres create more contrast around the outer eye while the clear bond keeps the base discreet.

Try not to automatically place your longest or heaviest lash at the very outside edge. Instead, create the highest point just before the eye begins to turn down, then allow the final section to become slightly lighter. This draws attention upwards and can make the whole eye appear more lifted.
Our Bonded picks for downturned eyes: WING Xtend - Black for a more defined lifted look; WING Xtend - Brown for softer everyday definition; Luxury Mini Wing - Brown for an almost undetectable outer-corner lift; and Luxury Mini Wing - Black when you want that same quick one-piece effect with more definition.
HOODED EYES
How do you know if you have hooded eyes?
Hooded eyes have a fold of skin that sits over part of the natural eyelid crease, meaning that when you look straight ahead, less of the mobile lid is visible. The amount of hooding can be very subtle or more pronounced, and it is also completely normal for the eye area to become more hooded as our features naturally change with age.
Hooded eyes are often confused with deep-set eyes, and you can actually have characteristics of both. The easiest way to identify hooding is to look straight ahead with your face completely relaxed. If the skin beneath the brow overlaps or partially conceals the crease of your eyelid, you likely have some degree of hooding.
This is an eye shape where choosing the right lash can make an enormous difference. Very long, dense lashes can sometimes compete with limited visible lid space, whereas lighter, strategically placed fibres can open and define the eye beautifully without overwhelming it.

What lashes suit hooded eyes?
For hooded eyes, we generally favour lift, separation and softness rather than excessive density. You want the lash to remain visible when the eye is open without creating a heavy line that makes the eye appear smaller.
The WING Xtend - Black is one of our favourite choices for hooded eyes. Its three-piece design gives you definition across the eye without the weight of a traditional full strip lash. The outer wing creates lift while the two smaller clusters allow the effect to continue inwards, creating a wispy, polished finish that works particularly well when visible lid space is limited.
If black feels too strong, WING Xtend - Brown creates the same lifted shape with softer brunette fibres. This can be particularly beautiful on hooded eyes when you want definition without creating too much contrast around the lash line.
For the most minimal approach, the Luxury Mini Wing - Black is a lovely option. Because the lash is concentrated at the outer third rather than extending across the entire eye, it gives you a little lift and elongation while leaving the rest of the lash line incredibly light.
If you prefer individual clusters and want complete control over your lash map, The NATURAL Short is another excellent choice. Its 9mm and 10mm lengths are especially useful for hooded or smaller eyes where longer lashes can sometimes feel disproportionate. The shorter fibres add definition without taking over the eye.
Lash mapping tip for hooded eyes
With hooded eyes, longer doesn’t automatically mean more lifting. In fact, excessive length can sometimes cause the lashes to visually disappear into the hood or touch the skin above the eye.
Try keeping the inner corner short and light, gradually introducing length through the centre and outer third. Rather than creating an extremely dramatic jump in length at the outer edge, keep the transition soft so the eye appears lifted and open.
Also pay attention to curl and direction. A beautifully lifted fibre can create more visible impact on a hooded eye than simply adding several extra millimetres of length.
And don’t feel you need to fill every available millimetre of lash line. Leaving a little breathing space and using fewer, finer clusters can sometimes produce a much more flattering result.
Our Bonded picks for hooded eyes: WING Xtend - Black for defined, wispy lift; WING Xtend - Brown for a softer version of the same effect; Luxury Mini Wing - Brown for minimal outer-corner lift; and Natural Short for shorter, completely customisable definition.
DEEP-SET EYES
How do you know if you have deep-set eyes?
Deep-set eyes sit slightly further back within the eye socket, which often makes the brow bone appear more prominent and creates natural depth around the eye. You may notice that your upper lid appears to recede slightly beneath the brow bone when looking straight ahead.
Deep-set eyes are sometimes mistaken for hooded eyes because both can have less obvious lid space, but they aren’t the same thing. With a hooded eye, skin folds over the natural crease; with a deep-set eye, it is the position of the eye within the socket that creates the depth. It is also possible to have characteristics of both.
When choosing lashes for deep-set eyes, we generally want to create visible definition and openness without adding unnecessary weight. Soft, separated fibres tend to work particularly beautifully because they frame the eye while allowing its natural depth to remain visible.

What lashes suit deep-set eyes?
For deep-set eyes, we particularly like lashes that create lift and visible separation. Because the eye naturally sits further back, very dense or extremely heavy lashes can sometimes create additional shadow around the lash line. A lighter, more dimensional lash tends to keep the eye looking open.
The WING Xtend - Black is one of our favourite options. The three-piece design creates definition without covering the entire eye with a heavy band, while the outer wing helps draw the eye outward. The black fibres give enough contrast to remain beautifully visible on a deeper-set eye.
If you prefer something wispier, ELEVATE works beautifully on deep-set eyes. Its mix of 9mm–14mm lengths allows you to customise where the height sits, while the separated, wispy finish adds definition without creating a solid block of volume along the lash line
For something extremely subtle, the Luxury Mini Wing - Black concentrates a small amount of lift at the outer third of the eye. It is a lovely option if you don’t want additional lashes across the entire lash line but still want the eye to feel slightly more elongated and finished.
Lash mapping tip for deep-set eyes
With deep-set eyes, don’t assume you necessarily need very long lashes simply because the eye sits further back. Direction, curl and separation can often create more impact than additional length.
Keep the inner corner relatively light and allow the lashes to gradually open through the centre and outer portion of the eye. A little additional length through the centre can help bring the eye visually forward, while extending the outer section creates more elongation.
Try to avoid creating an extremely dense, uniform lash line. Leaving small variations in length and allowing the fibres to remain visibly separated gives deep-set eyes dimension rather than adding further shadow.
It is also worth checking your lashes with your eyes completely open before deciding on your final map. A lash can look quite different on a deep-set eye when looking down into a mirror versus looking straight ahead, so always assess the finished effect with your face relaxed.
Our Bonded picks for deep-set eyes: WING Xtend - Black for visible definition and lift; WING Xtend - Brown for softer everyday framing; ELEVATE for wispy, customisable dimension; and Luxury Mini Wing - Brown for understated outer-corner elongation.
